Big Head Productions is a personal project of mine. Essentially a side-hustle to fulfill my passion of creating comic books and other pop merchandise. And creating a business around that intent only seemed appropriate, so Big Head Productions was born.
The initial ideation behind the logo was simply me playing on the fact growing up my head was disproportionate to my body. I mean, I still have a big head. But it was definitely something I had a complex over when I was younger. Remembering a time, I tried out for the football team in high school, and when they handed out equipment, they didn’t have a helmet on-hand that fit me. So, it was a thing to be sure.
But as I played with the idea of a big head, the brand statement became more in-depth. The initial step being the Korean character on the character’s forehead. The character itself, pronounced, kkhum, which translates to, dream, was intentional to include here. Simply being the idea of dreaming so big to bring that work into the world seemed like a statement that resonated with me.
The creative art itself, wanted to move in a clean, chibi style work that reflected the energy I wanted to represent here and at the same time be clean enough as a business branding.
Ultimately the end result, through its many iterations, is something I’ve very happy with. And I look forward to putting more work from Big Head Productions into the world.
