As part of a pitch for new business work, I was given a design brief to showcase my ability against their brand. In this instance, the brief was to do a play on the “Have a Nice Day” face for a t-shirt design.
The brief itself was open enough to explore this challenge in my personal style. Specifically with the illustration work, I gravitate to a manga/black and white style, and sci-fi elements. For color, of course went with yellow, mainly as a shout out to the original icon/source. For the type, worked to create something more retro. The thought it would be a fun contrast against the sci-fi elements, and modern styling of the illustration itself.
